Air India management sacks 41 more striking employees

THE AIR India management on Thursday sacked 41 more employees for going on an illegal strike, thus taking the total number of dismissed employees to 58. Assuming a tough posture, the Air India management also derecognised two unions, which had called for the stir.

The 58 staffers, whose services have been terminated also include office bearers of Air Corporation Employees Union (ACEU) and All India Aircraft Engineers Association (AIAEA).  The Air India management has also sent suspension notices as well as caveats have been filed in some courts to ensure that no ex-parte decision is given, if the unions challenge this order.

The two Air India unions had gone on strike against the alleged gag order issued by the management, asking them not to talk with media in the aftermath of the Mangalore air crash. 168 people had lost their lives when a Mangalore borne aircraft had crashed while landing at the Mangalore airport.

The strike, however, had to be called off on Monday after the Delhi High Court gave a restraining order against the agitating employees and and government also acted tough and supported Air India management.
