EIGHT CENTRAL Reserve Police Force personnel belonging to 168 Bn. were killed and 10 Jawans sustained injuries on Saturday evening when Naxals blew up their bullet proof vehicle in which they were travelling.
The naxals triggered an improvised explosive device near Pedakodipad village on NH-16 of Bijapur district under Chhattishgarh state, according to the police. Two civilians, who are on the road travelling on a two wheeler also sustained serious injuries on the spot. The injured jawans were shifted to Jagdalpur hospital and they are reported to be out of danger.
Earlier, 75 CRPF jawans and one local Hawaldar was also killed in Chhattishgarh on 6th April and again on 4th April 11 SOG jawans were killed near Govindpalli in Koraput district. Those, who died on Saturday were identified as S.I. Santosh Chaurasia, Head Const. cum Driver Hazarilal, HC H.K. Ghosh, HC M. Subramaniam, Const. Todaram Verma, Rakesh Meena, Santosh Chauhan, Lalba Singh.
