USA vs. England World Cup 2010 Result: USA 1-1 England

IT SEEMS FIFA World Cup 2010 is all about equality, at least that is reflected in the numbers of goals scored and resulting match draws. Out of Five matches played three are draw, the latest to fall in this line of draw is England who scored goal in 4th minute but failed to kiss net in later part. But USA, performing much better than the expectation, scored in 41st minute to level the goal tally.

Sunday, is going to be the day of attack form media in England, reason obvious. Goal keeper Robert Green will not be able to come out of this attack in whole series. The Green shock to English fan will definitely put them in back seat and force them to change their strategy in coming games.

Well, Client Dempsey perfectly utilized the mistake done by Green in the 40th minute, and scored the leveler in the American World Cup opener Saturday. Steven Gerrard’s 4th minute goal from the short range beat Goalkeeper Tim Howard.

With this goal Dempsey become only the second American to score in two World Cups after Brian McBride. He tied the score when his 25 yard shot skipped off the grass twice and bounced in off Green's hand.

England was in Green shock and disappointment after the match which is looking for its World Cup title since 1966.

That was not the end, American again intruded the English defense in 65th minute and nearly scored but it touched Green’s hand and the upper corner of the goal.
Tim Howard withstood the late English attack and was man of the match for saving the USA from its defensive lapses.

Now they will face two relatively easier challenges, Slovenia on June 18 and Algeria on June 23. These two teams of Group C will meet in their first game on Sunday.

Gerrard scored his 17th goal in 82 appearances, bursting past Clark. Emile Heskey has taken Glen Johnson's throw-in and sent a through ball to Gerrard, who flicked it past Howard.

Dempsey scored on a play very similar to the goal by Croatia's Niko Kranjcar that went in off Scott Carson's arm and helped eliminate England from qualifying from the 2008 European Championship.

Howard went down and needed treatment in the 31st minute after Emile Heskey slid into his ribs toe first. Howard grimaced several times when he got up and play resumed.
