FORMER UNION Minister and so-called media baron Matang Sinh remained absent in the Tripartite Meeting called by the Labour Commissioner, Tripura on July 28, at 11 am in Agartala. Sinh, being the chief of North East Multimedia Pvt Ltd, was summoned and expected to attend the meeting to clarify on the matter raised by the employees of NE Bangla, satellite news channel’s Agartala office regarding the illegal closure of Agartala office and non payment of salaries for last five months. In absence of Matang Sinh, the meeting was attended by the Commissioner himself and the employees’ representatives lead by Prasenjit Chakraborty (Secretary, Save Notheast). Other employees’ representatives were Sanjib Das, Sunanda Bhowmik, Shankar Dey and Janardan Sarkar. As the meeting bore no fruit, the employees demanded further action, immediately. The Labour Commissioner then fixed the next date for Tripartite Meeting on August 6. A notice will be served to the authority of the channel soon, he assured. The employees think that Matang Sinh knows his weaknesses well, as he has broken laws desperately. The employees said that If Sinh is confident that he is honest in mind and action, he must attend the meeting personally and place his submission before the commission and the employees. Or, his absence will only deepen the mystery.
