THE VILLAGERS of Ahlisdar in Haryana's Fatehabad district were exposed to a rare spectacle which happens occasionally in India on Saturday. A local farmer, Parveen Kamboj in Ahlisdar village about 280 kilometers from Chandigarh, said that he saw water rising in a streak hundreds of feet up in the air. He recorded the spectacle with his mobile phone and was visibly excited when he spilled the beans about the entire issue.
About the tornado, Kamboj said that he was working in his fields when he came across a pipe like thing in the sky that was lifting water from the fields. He further said that the streak was connecting the clouds with the earth.
Met officials said that such kind of tornadoes are mostly found in United States and they are a rare geographical phenomenon in India. These kind of tornadoes take place when there is formation of multi-cells in the clouds added with lot of winds, they added.
Such tornadoes have been observed earlier also in Ludhiana and Chandigarh in the past.
