The case surfaced when Jethwa was shot in front of Gujarat High Court on July 20 soon after he had filed for a public interest litigation (PIL) against illegal mining in the Gir forest region.
On Monday, the city crime branch had arrested police constable Bahadursinh Dhirubha Wadher (37) in connection with the Amit Jethwa murder case. He was posted at the Girgadhada police station. The other co-accused in the case, Pachan Shiva is reportedly one of the two motorcycle borne assailants, who had shot Jethwa.
According to the police statement, Wadher had given the task of killing Jethwa to Pachan Shiva and Shailesh Pandya, a sharp shooter. Pandya is still absconding. The police also claim that Wadher had assured an amount of Rs 11 lakh for killing Jethwa.
The following day when Jethwa was murdered, his father Bhikabhai Jethwa had alleged that BJP MP from Junagadh Dinu Solanki was behind his son's murder.
