Rahul Gandhi to address students in Aurangabad today


ALL INDIA Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Rahul Gandhi will interact with students in Aurangabad on Tuesday. The interaction is aimed as part of Gandhi's efforts to 'democratise' the Youth Congress and National Students Union of India (NSUI) through inner-party elections. Rahul in his Maharashtra tour, will address students in three cities, Aurangabad, Akola and Pune. In Pune, he will attend two functions in a day at Pimpri as well as Chinchwad.

 

The first function will held at Ram Krishna More hall where Rahul will inaugurate the website of National Union of Students and will also interact with the students. In another function, he will address the youth party activists. Going by the schedule, third on the list is Aurangabad where he will interact with students from various colleges covering both rural and urban populace at Cidco Natyagruh at around 1 PM.

 

Although he does not have any plans of meeting any political figure, his trip is meant exclusively for college students. After interacting with students his next pit stop will be in Pune so explore, comprehend and understand better what he wants out of the education system in Maharashtra.

 

His Maharashtra tour is aimed as efforts to '' the NSUI through inner-party elections. It will boost Congress in state as well as will attract more and more youths in the party. We are getting tremendous response from students and they are too eager to meet Rahul tomorrow, the coordinator added. Sources said that apart from Gandhi, around 20 members of the core group of the NSUI, which includes its President Hibi Eden and AICC Secretary in-charge of NSUI Meenakshi Natrajan will accompany Rahul in his Maharashtra visit which will begin in the morning from Akola and will end in Pune.

 

It will be a big surprise for us as Rahul Gandhi will turn up tomorrow and interact with us, said a student from Maulana Azad college, who was amongst the selected students invited for interaction session with Rahul. Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in the city in the backdrop of Gandhi's visit. A special team comprising 12 officers is reviewing security measures in the city.
