IN THE second cricket test match between India and New Zealand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium Hyderabad, Indian opening pair Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir completed their hundred partnership. Virender Sehwag also completed his 24th test fifty in the international cricket. However, Gautam Gambhir, who is struggling to re-gain his form also completed his fifty.
Earlier, Indian pace-spin duo of Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh restricted New Zealand for 350 runs. On the second morning of the second test match between India and New Zealand, visitors started their inning from 258/4 and added just 92 runs for the loss of six batsmen on day two at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
On the second morning, first overnight batsman wicketkeeper Gareth Hopkins departed for four runs on the bowling of Zaheer Khan, then Williamson. The next man, who left for the pavilion was captain Vettori, who was claimed by Harbhajan Singh. Jesse Ryder, who was struggling with a calf strain, added 48 runs off 56 balls to his overnight 22.
At lunch, New Zealand team was on 341 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Martin was the last man who left the crease just after lunch. Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh shared four wickets each, whereas Sreesanth and Ojha shared one each. On day one, opener McIntosh scored 104 runs and Guptill out for 85 runs.
At the draw of stumps, India was 178 for the loss of two wickets in the form of Virender Sehwag and Gautam Ghambir, who scored 96 and 54 respectively.
