Thousand 'friends' on Facebook but still lonely


THE FACEBOOK generation as they are commonly called comprises of the youngsters in the age group 16-24 years. Though almost everyone in all age brackets is logging on to Facebook for the new-found way of ‘networking’ the facebook generation makes up for the majority of users.


A new research in the regard has thrown up some interesting revelations. It states that despite of having thousands of friends online, the Facebook generation is the loneliest of all age-groups.

 

The study conducted in Britain revealed that 16 to 24-year-olds are lonelier and unhappy than any other age group. Various reasons came up to the surface for their status such as family problems, financial issues, peer pressure.

 

The following are some facts revealed by the sudy:


•One in three said they were bored with their lives and 28 per cent complained that loneliness was making them unhappy.

 

•70 per cent said finances topped their list of concerns, while more than 66 percent were worried about holding down a job.

 

•One in three said they were tormented by family or relationship problems.

 

•And one in three of the Facebook said they wanted to move abroad in search of happiness.
