Reversal of heart disease is possible

HEART DISEASE is increasingly found in a large number of people globally and in India, it is growing at a very fast pace, it is affecting the younger ones also now, which was not heard in the past. Why is it happening? Many studies are done and are going on; doctors and scientist are working to find out the medication for this.

All agree that the lifestyle is the one of the main causes for this. It is the sedentary life style which is the main cause. Most of the people who have desk bound jobs they are the ones prone to have the adverse effects on their heart due to the nature of their job.

Today, look at a normal person’s daily routine, gets up, finishes the daily chores, takes the breakfast which doesn’t have the required nutrients, rushes to office, usually by car, bus, train or metro, in the office sits in front of the computer for at least eight to 10 hours without much mobility and in between takes the tea, smoke breaks, lunch and tea in a stressful environment- a typical case for an IT professional, accountants, managers of the departments. After work, one rushes back to home by the same mode of transport; upon reaching home either takes tea with the junk snack or the dinner depending on what time the person lands up. Most of the time the meal is taken in front of the TV, catching up the latest news or watching the favourite TV serial and thus, the day ends there itself!

The next day, it is the same routine till the weekend. Weekend is for getting up late, then heavy meals followed by a relaxing nap or shopping for the whole week by the same mode of transport and then while shopping, there is the possibility of having another junk snack with lots of calories. This is the problem of many big cities and that is why we are hearing so many cases of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems at a very young age.

But the good news is that heart disease can be prevented and cured by just some lifestyle changes. Most of the doctors are focused on the symptoms of heart problems then on the causes. Most of the doctors will scare the patient by saying that they need the bypass surgery immediately just to make money, sometimes it is not necessary to go for the surgery because our heart even if it is working 30 to 40 per cent, is still able to provide the required blood and oxygen to the system. At this stage, one should immediately switch to lifestyle changes and keep taking the medication and regular tests just to see what changes body is going through.

The patient can be surprised at the results but do in guidance of a good cardiologist.

Dr Caldwell B Esselstyn, who has done 20 years of nutritional study, one of the longest in history, has found that how we can end the epidemic of heart disease by simply changing the eating habits. His patients who were in advance stages of the disease even after the angioplasty and bypass operations, they were given only one year to live. After being part of his studies, not only did they get rid of the symptoms but later had no cardiac events. His studies showed that plant based diet and oil free diet can get rid of the heart problems.

In India we have Dr Bimal Chajjar, a cardiologist and one of the pioneers in non invasive cardio treatment in India from AIIMs, who was trained by Dr Dean Ornish (who pioneered in the lifestyle treatment in USA for the reversal of heart treatment), is now running a programme called SAAOL (Science and Art of Living) treatment. A SAAOL treatment recommends patients to take allopathic treatment and go for lifestyle changes by doing yoga, meditation, oil free diet and stress management. His studies show that the clinical reports immediately start changing once a person follows his programme by taking a regular high fiber diet without oil, do regular exercise and yoga and meditation to cut down the stress.

Smoking is banned, it damages heart and lungs and cuts down the years of life. Men are more prone to heart disease and those who have a family history of heart problems should be very careful.

A person should switch to vegetarian diet without the oils, go for sprouts and do regular exercise, yoga and meditation. Following this programme they will not only be benefited from hyper tension, high BP, diabetes and heart disease but will also find many positive emotional changes, they will be very happy and energetic. After a regular same strict regime the patients not only get relief from the symptoms but they also get rid of the disease. Slowly their medicine dose will be reduced and eventually may be stopped.

So, with these simple steps we can have healthy India! Go for it!
