2G scam: Raja's properties raided

FINALLY, IT appears CBI has taken centre stage in the voluminous 2G spectrum scandal. Today it raided various properties of former Telecom Minister, A Raja, a prime kingpin in the 1 lakh 76 thousand crore 2G scam.

The CBI raided Raja’s residences in Delhi and Chennai to muster evidence against Raja. Raja lost his job of telecom minister owing to his alleged involvement in the 2G scam last month.

The alleged scam is now the bone of contention between the ruling UPA and opposition parties. Everyday parliament is adjourned without conducting any business. The entire winter session has gone wasted as opposition parties are demanding formation of JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee) to carry out investigation into the huge scam.

CAG, a constitutional body in its report found many irregularities in awarding 2G Spectrum licenses to various companies. The report categorically raises many questions on former telecom minister, Raja under whose tutelage tendering and selection process of vendors were carried out in 2008. The report found that then minister flouted a wide array of rules to favor certain corporate houses. Owing to his alleged inappropriate actions and decisions, CAG report found that country lost a voluminous revenue to the tune of Rs 1 lakh 76 thousand crore.

It appears gradually noose is tightening around docked Raja, however it remains to be seen whether he will be finally prosecuted or not. Let’s wait and watch.

Ironically everything is happening under the nose of PM, Manmohan Singh, who according to people perception is very honest. However, if PM remains mute spectator to numerous scams, then it does raise questions on his integrity and propriety.

Considering present political scenario, it appears Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and their sycophant has no concern for common man. They are only concerned about saving their tainted regime, which have many Rajas, Kalmadis, and Chavans who are plundering public coffers for their own advantage. If they have any conscience left, they should sanction JPC into the 2G scam, and save some precious time for parliament.
