IN THE 22nd Indian Premier League 2011 match tonight, April 20, at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, host Kolkata Knight Riders will take on Kochi Tuskers Kerala. The Kolkata Knight Riders team who has never reached the semi final of the Indian Premier League so far, is at the top of the points table in IPL 2011.
Kolkata Knight Riders, with a complete new look team under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir, has won three matches and lost one in the IPL 2011. Riders lost the inaugural match of the IPL this session against defending champion Chennai Super Kings by a narrow margin of two runs.
In the next three matches against Deccan Chargers and back-to-back matches against Rajasthan Royals, Knight Riders won by nine runs, nine wickets and eight wickets respectively. In its last match against Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders bowled out its opponent at just 81 runs.
The IPL brand new team Kochi Tuskers Kerala, who is being lead by Mahela Jayawardene, lost its first two matches of its campaign of the IPL, and then came back on track with back-to-back victories.
In its opening match, Kochi Tuskers lost against Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets. In the next match against another brand new team Pune Warriors, Tuskers lost by four wickets.
In the next match Mahela Jayawardene and his men enjoyed their first ever victory in the IPL. Kochi Tuskers chased the target of 183 runs, set by Mumbai Indians, by eight wickets in hand and and six balls remaining.
In that match Sachin Tendulkar scored his first ever 100 in T20. In its last match Tuskers won against defending IPL and Champions League champion Chennai Super Kings by seven wickets.
The Kolkata team has many big names in international as well as domestic cricket such as Gautam Gambhir, Jacques Kallis, Yusuf Pathan, Eoin Morgan, Shakib-al-Hasan, Brett Lee, Ryan ten Doeschate, Brad Haddin, James Pattinson, Laxmipathy Balaji, and Manoj Tiwary.
