MAKING IT clear that the Parliament was supreme institution in the country, social activist Anna Hazare on Sunday that if the Lokpal Bill is rejected by it, then he would accept the decision.
In an apparent bid to bring in some flexibility on the stand he is taking vis a vis the Lokpal Bill, Hazare said that he was also amenable to extending the August 15 deadline, he had set for the passage of the bill by the Parliament.
Replying to a question as to what would be his response, if the Parliament decided to reject the Bill, the social activist replied that if this happens then the people will have to accept the decision as country is a democracy.
Speaking to a group of journalists, Hazare said that there could be flexibility on the date of passing the bill once the civil society was convinced that government was on the right track.
He also said that it was quite possible for the government to take this bill forward in a month, if it was sincere.
The Lokpal Bill Joint Draft Committee had came into being after the government agreed to the demands of Anna Hazare, who went on fast unto death in support of the Jan Lokpal Bill.
Hazare had fixed August 15 as the deadline for the Lokpal Bill.
