WGC-Bridgestone Invitational Golf from August 5


WGC-BRIDGESTONE Invitational Golf Tournament at Firestone Country Club, in Akron, Ohio is taking place from August 5 to 8. All of the top 50 players in the official world Golf ranking and 18 of the top 20 in the current FedEx Cup standings will take part in the 80-player field at Firestone Country Club.

The Bridgestone Invitational is a week before the final major championship of the year, the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits.

World no.1 golfer Tiger Woods, who is winless in his first seven PGA Tour this year, will try to defend his title at WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. He has won seven times at Firestone, it is a PGA Tour record for an event at a single course.

Tiger Woods is four titles behind Jack Nicklaus’s record of 18 professional majors. Woods has played 17 tournaments on the PGA Tour after returning from the British Open and won 12 of them, Since 2006.

World top 10 golfers according to the official world Golf ranking including Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Lee Westwood, Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk, Ernie Els, Luke Donald, Rory McIlroy, Paul Casey, and Ian Poulter. These all will compete to win WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, which is scheduled to be played from August 5 to 8.

Anthony Kim, who has not been playing from the past three months following thumb surgery, will also play in the Bridgestone Invitational.

According to the official Bridgestone Invitational site, the Bridgestone Invitational annually donates more than $800,000 to charities throughout Northeast Ohio. Over the years, professional golf has donated more than $19 million to more than 200 worthy causes in Northeast Ohio, including Akron Children's Hospital.
