Railway officials blame it on the heavy traffic on the site. But, is it merely that simple? The scene at the ticket windows isn’t any better. People queue up for tatkal tickets right from midnight at most stations. Most of these men are private agents who work in a nexus with

As the temperature soars higher and higher, there is water scarcity everywhere. Topping the list of the parched places is Dang of Gujarat. Here, the entire district is facing a devastating drought. Ironically, this is happening despite the fact that Dang receives the highest rainfall level in all of Gujarat.

Roshan Saroliya, a community reporter for IndiaUnheard says, it’s corruption, rather than global warming which has created this crisis situation.

“We have abundant water resources. But faulty dams, untested equipment and poor management have allowed water resources to leak. As a result, thousands of families are

Want pelf and power, be a saint

To a civil compliment, “I think you are the purest and greatest mahatma in the world today,” an undiscovered saint once quipped: “Have you seen the entire world? I think you have not even seen the entire India.”

Indian soil has never been devoid of great saints. It would never be. There are hundreds of truly great saints in the Himalayas even today. They are in a state of unbreakable trance, unknown and inaccessible to the world, he said unwilling to divulge more details. People have no right to say this is not true they can only say they don’t know, he added.

Trial by media is abuse of human rights

ALL INDIA Forgotten Women’s Association (AIFWA), Andhra Pradesh Mothers-in-law Protection Association (APMPA), Save Indian Family Foundation (SIFF), All India Men’s Welfare Association (AIMWA) are submitting a petition to the A.P. State Human Rights Commission regarding print and electronic media telecasting/publishing lies and half-truths about family disputes between husbands and wives in the name of news, and resorting to defamation of husbands and their family members by calling them criminals, crooks, cheats, frauds, blood-thirsty demons, money-hungry wolves, and similar terms merely based on the self-serving statements of a complainant wife, thus damaging the dignity of accused persons.

It has become a regular practice for Newspapers and TV News Channels to publish/telecast disputes between wives and husbands and matters which are sub-judice or under investigation, in the name of news. Every news story of this nature has certain common elements –

• Portraying the wife as weak, helpless creature, having low self-esteem, but flawless in their interactions with the husband and his family members, and as innocent victims of

Autonomy and Tribal Welfare - Part II

THE ISSUE of economic prosperity is now deeply linked with the concept of social justice. Irrational ‘exclusion’ and ‘inclusion’ of certain sections of a society inversely affect the process of social justice.

Noted economist and Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen and others have strongly voiced for development policies relating to social justice along with logical exclusion and inclusion. Access to pure drinking water, food, health care, education and a decent livelihood are few of the deciding parameters of social justice.

The policy makers are now at least recognizing the importance of social justice for sustainable and equitable growth of the country and working on it. One of the main problems that the ethnic people are facing is drinking water crisis. During summer and winter, the crisis becomes intolerable. After Delhi, Rahul plans to capture power in Tamil Nadu

IT APPEARS that Rahul Gandhi is making a sincere efforts in rejuvenating the party in Tamilnadu. It is really interesting to note that a national party is interested to develop its base in the state after a long time. It is all the more necessary to analyse the factors which pave the way for capturing power in Tamilnadu.

First and foremost the people of Tamilnadu are highly possesive about their culture, language and have sentiments of their own. The Indian National Congress must first address to some of its own policies vis a vis the expectations of the State.

After the Late Kamaraj there has been virtually no leader of late from the Congress who understood the needs of the Common man in the state of Tamilnadu . Even for naming the Domestic Air Terminal in Chennai the Congress
